MEET DIANE

Diane Villadsen is a San Jose-based photographer celebrated for her bold use of color. In her work, beams of light, human shapes, and geometry combine into visual sculpture. A linguistics major, she built her signature visual style through years of trial and error and a commitment to running with creative impulses.

Diane seeks to capture connection through a nontraditional lens, through surreal posing and quiet intimacy.

In recent years, Diane has gravitated toward set design and on-site installations as a primary medium. Photography has led her into a passion for design and storytelling. In between creative projects, she plays bluegrass banjo, works her way through the New York Times crossword archive, and hangs out with her cats, Kiki and Puff. Despite the intense and adventurous nature of the photo industry, Diane identifies as a homebody and treasures quiet mornings, gardening, and time with family.
